“Rise and Shine for America” is the new theme of the incoming President General, Denise VanBuren’s national Administration in Washington, D.C. The July meeting took place at the Lincoln Home library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 9. Barbara Belknap represented the Chapter and gave a review of the Continental Congress she attended in June in Washington, D.C. One of the highlights of her talk was recognition of “The Hello Girls.” These women who were telephone operators were flown to Europe during World War II to help facilitate the phone calls between American soldiers during the war.

Regent Miller called attention to the Hillsdale College free online course on the Constitution of the United States and has encouraged members to take it. The Chapter will be a hostess chapter for the fall State meeting in Auburn. Those present were associate members: Pat Franz and Patricia Viles, Prospective member: Susan Wilson, and members: Sue Hochstein, Jean Hoyenski, Barbara Belknap, Mary Lee Merrill, Miriam Buckley, Sara Fahnley, Audrey Miller, Eleanor O’Donnell and Clara Wentworth.

The next meeting will be Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. in the Lincoln Home Library in Newcastle. We will be making plans for participation at the fall State meeting.
