Patriots, Hoosiers and more
The easy Sunday meal was planned early so we could enjoy watching the New England Patriots game against the Houston Texans. The halftime fish chowder and biscuits (made by my talented wife, Melodee) tasted extra delicious while the Pats held a 21-10 lead. The game wasn’t epic, for sure, with all the turnovers, but it was to be expected due to the playing conditions (snow, sleet, rain, wind, etc.) but it was a pleasant ending for Patriot fans.
On to Denver we go to play for the American Football Conference championship this Sunday at 3 p.m. (another day to plan an easy meal). The Broncos will have to use a back-up quarterback who used to be a Patriot, Jarrett Stidham, because of the injury sustained by starting quarterback Bo Nix. Can the Patriots rattle the Broncos’ sub? We think so as they seemed to have no problem rattling the Texans’ QB C.J. Stroud. A prediction here – New England 24, Denver 21. On to Super Bowl 60!

The Indiana Hoosier football team won the National Championship Monday night against the University of Miami, 27-21. The win was the first football championship for the school as the Hoosiers completed an undefeated season – 16-0!
Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza was a pleasure to watch as he led Indiana through the season. He will probably be the first draft pick for the upcoming NFL draft and his touchdown run in the game was something to behold – watch the highlights if you missed it like I did (because I can’t stay up late on Monday nights … I need my rest for completing the newspaper on Tuesdays). I did stay up for half the game and I was rooting for Indiana, who led 10-0.

The Seahawk girls and boys basketball teams are nearing the end of the season and it is a pleasure to watch them compete – win or lose – every winter. The girls are closing in on a tournament invitation and the boys are still working hard to win every game despite their record.
The Wiscasset Wolverine boys basketball team is also seeking a tournament invitation as they have an 8-4 record as of press time.
Good luck the rest of the way, teams!
