Park supporters celebrate

Fri, 11/15/2019 - 12:00pm

Boothbay Harbor Waterfront Preservation rented the beautiful third floor bar and gallery at the Opera House Nov. 13 for an event, where approximately 100 generous donors, large and small, representing a cross section of our community, mingled to celebrate the purchase of the Cap’n Fish Motel property. This property will be the future home of the Eastside Waterfront Park.

The hors d’oeuvres and soups hit the spot in the midst of our early cold snap and enhanced the warmth of our gathering. Each person there had a chance to thank one other for the successful fundraising effort to ensure free public access to our beautiful harbor and to have a placeholder for additional maritime interests. While donors have been privately recognized, it was fun to meet in person. A second event is planned for early next summer to thank those donors who could not be there last night because they have moved to their winter homes.

Moving forward we will begin the process of getting approvals from the planning board and DEP to create the park. While we have raised funds for Phase One we still need to raise funds for Phase Two—the actual construction of the park. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 55, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538, or online using PayPal on our website at: boothbayharborwaterfrontpreservation.org

Thank you one and all. Your support is much appreciated!
