Our young readers

The Boothbay Register/Wiscasset Newspaper would like to begin a series of stories on elementary school-age students who read our newspaper on a regular basis. We would like to include a photo of your son or daughter (or niece or nephew) reading a current issue, with some background on what they like to read in the weekly. Submissions may be sent to news@boothbayregister.com or news@wiscassetnewspaper.com

This initial submission is of Kameron Fowlie, son of Meredith and Justin Fowlie of Boothbay. Kameron was caught on camera by his mom while he was getting ready for bed.

“The sports section is his go-to. He was looking for information on his big brother, Andrew (BRHS tennis player),” said Meredith. “He sees me reading it faithfully every week so I guess he decided it was his turn to check it out.”

Meredith writes: “There’s a neat story behind how we became faithful followers of the Register. When Justin and I got married almost 21 years ago, my grandparents (Dick and Virginia McDougall) bought us a subscription every single year for Christmas. They carried on this annual gift until my grandmother passed away in 2012. At that point, my parents took over buying our yearly subscriptions with my grandparents’ leftover funds. (They do this for brother Mike and Caroline, too.) No matter where we lived in our 21 years – we have moved 14 times due to Justin’s job – the Register followed us all over the state of Maine and I looked forward to my weekly delivery of my hometown news!”
