Our spectacular Gardens Aglow

    Dear Editor:

On our annual trek to Florida we usually take a side trip to one of the many places of interest along the way. This year we decided to revisit Longwood Gardens in Delaware to see their Christmas decorations. Their gardens are on the former estate of one of the DuPonts and is a major attraction in the area. One of the officials told us that on the previous Saturday and Sunday they had 10,000 and 17,000 visitors respectively. It is in a beautiful area of rolling hills and large open fields. The gardens and lights were nice but their arboretum was magnificent with special lighting and thousands of plants. The number and variety of the poinsettias alone was notable as were the hanging Christmas trees. It was a worthwhile side trip.

But, absent the arboretum, Longwood Garden’s outdoor display can, in no way, compete with our spectacular Gardens Aglow.

We are indeed fortunate to have a world class botanical gardens in Boothbay for us all to enjoy.
