Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident Jan. 6 at 7:03 p.m. on Route 27 near Dolphin Mini Golf, according to Lt. Brendan Kane. Boothbay Fire Department and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service also responded and traffic was diverted.

Kane said a 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound when driver Joshua R. Greenleaf, 31, of Boothbay lost control and hit a telephone pole causing a power outage in Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. Greenleaf left the scene and was found by deputies shortly thereafter.

On Jan. 7, Deputy Caleb Poirier arrested Greenleaf for operating under the influence and failing to make an oral or written accident report. Kane said Greenleaf or his insurance will be responsible for the cost of replacing the telephone pole.
