As a new resident to Boothbay, one of the women of the American Legion Auxiliary invited me to visit one of their meetings and, once I did, I knew I wanted to become a part of helping our veterans in any way possible. These men and women (along with their families) selflessly give/gave of their life and time to protect our freedoms here in our country, to which I benefit every single day of my life by having the freedom to speak, to worship, to work, to live. I am so glad to be involved with the Auxiliary and know that my life can make a difference to others in our community in a real and personal way.
One way the American Legion of Boothbay is helping to benefit our service men and women is by hosting a fundraising yard sale, craft sale and barbecue. All are welcome to attend and there will be many great finds, great food and loads of fun! This event will be starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the American Legion Building, 25 Industrial Park Drive here in Boothbay.

I am so thankful and blessed for having friendly and welcoming neighbors who would invite me to share with them, the joy in giving back to our community.
