Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater is pleased to announce that the OldHat Stringband will be performing live on stage on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Get ready to tap your feet and clap your hands as this acoustic musical trio based in Eliot Maine makes their Lincoln Theater debut, playing everything from folk and bluegrass to old-time and country. We hope you will join us for what is sure to be an enjoyable evening of lively entertainment.
Known for their strong harmony singing and driving stringband sound, OldHat Stringband fuses tight vocal harmonies with a lively rhythm section, creating a sound that draws from bluegrass, old time, folk, and country traditions. The band is comprised of Whitney Roy on guitar and vocals, Steve Roy on mandolin, fiddle, and vocals, and Amanda Kowalski on bass.
Whitney Roy’s lilting vocals provide the backbone of OldHat’s vocal blend, while her solid rhythm guitar anchors the bands rhythm section. Steve Roy is one of New England’s premier multi-instrumentalists and has performed and toured with many of the acoustic world’s top acts. Amanda Kowalski is one of the more sought-after bass players in the worlds of bluegrass and old-time music, and her rhythmic drive and energy on stage are second to none.
Jessica DeLisle, South Portland resident and owner of The Tipsy Butler in Newcastle, has seen OldHat perform quite a few times and highly recommends anyone who enjoys live music come check them out. She describes them as “poignant” and “charming” and emphasized specifically their “beautiful harmonies.” “OldHat draws you in for more” says Jessica. “They’re snappy and fun. A foot tapping, swaying, out of your seat blast!”
