Ocean Point Column: Volunteers needed, clean-up day and more

Tue, 05/03/2022 - 8:30am

Many thanks to the BBRWD for getting the seasonal water on early, their efforts are much appreciated, as I know many summer residents are anxious to return.

As a result of the early turn on we were able to make two quick trips to Ocean Point to prepare for the upcoming season. Everything appeared just as beautiful and quiet as when we closed up last fall.

Temperatures are not quite spring-like yet and our year round residents will tell you it was a cold and blustery winter and it remains that way despite the calendar. Hopefully that will change quickly.

It was so wonderful to catch up with many Ocean Point friends and neighbors and I’m sure that will continue through the month.

By now you should have received the spring letter from our president Alex Hall along with the activities calendar which is now posted on the website. If you have any questions regarding the letter please contact Alex or if you have questions about the activities calendar please contact me. Contact information is posted on the website.

The Activities Committee has striven to bring the community a wide variety of activities for every age group and I believe they have achieved that goal so I would like to personally thank all of them for their effort. Putting together a wide range of fun events for all to enjoy is not always an easy task. We are always in need of volunteers for activities so please consider signing up to help or to chair an activity.

As you are aware from the spring letter the AD cottage has received a makeover both inside and out thanks to the efforts of Paul Taylor, Link Brown, Skip and Pete Klein, Mark Milligan, Kippy and I believe Pete Ripley when he was available. It was also made possible by some very generous donations of materials as well as the assistance of individual donors. The generosity of your time and talent is so very much appreciated; do stop by the cottage and see the beautiful work that has been done by these kind and wonderful individuals.

Please remember our annual Ocean Point clean up day that will be held on Saturday, May 28 from 8 a.m. to noon. Don’t forget to bring gloves, rakes, possibly boots or any other supplies or tools that may be needed. Light refreshments will be served.

Many of you may have heard that our beloved Inn has been sold. While we are sad that eventually things will change with new ownership we are so happy for the owners that they will finally be able to enjoy some relaxation and free time.

I understand that for this summer things will remain the same with many of the crew returning. We are looking forward to seeing all of them.

I am looking forward to seeing many more Ocean Pointers in the upcoming weeks ahead. To all who are returning for the season travel safely.

    Have a great week!
