Ocean Point Column: Holidays and Pats’ season are over

Tue, 01/10/2023 - 10:15am

Even though I do enjoy the holidays (and this year was no exception), I’m happy they are behind us. Our tree came down over the weekend and all the decorations are tucked away for another year. Many thanks for all your holiday cards, pictures and well wishes.

I am ready for a new year and all that it might possibly involve and I am officially counting the days until our return to the Point.

To our disappointment, our annual December Christmas shopping trip to Boothbay was canceled this year due to the weather conditions. Mother Nature just would not cooperate as every weekend in December brought some sort of precipitation to the area that prohibited us from traveling.

As of now, we’ve experienced many mild days with a good amount of rain. It appears that pattern will continue for a while; although the ski areas are due to pick up some much needed snow.

Thanks to all who posted pictures and video of the horrendous pre-Christmas storm on the Facebook page. I’ve heard a few houses sustained some minor damage to shingles and roof. It’s quite comforting to know that so many watch over the properties of those who are not in residence.

For those of us die-hard Patriots fans, our season came to a halt on Sunday. However there are many Ocean Pointers whose team is in the playoffs, good luck to all.

It’s not too soon to be thinking of collecting items for our Attic Treasures Sale this summer and possibly either chairing or volunteering for an activity. The Activities Committee has plenty of events planned for this summer and we are always in need of help. More information will be forthcoming in the next few months.

A happy, healthy and prosperous 2023 to everyone and have a great week!
