Ocean Point Column: Go Patriots!

Tue, 01/29/2019 - 4:00pm

Ocean Point Patriots’ fans as well as all New England fans have to be excited for the teams return to another Super Bowl, their ninth appearance under Coach Belichick and 11th for the franchise! What an accomplishment for the team and for Tom Brady who also has his ninth conference title, congratulations on another AFC trophy.

It was exciting to see the rally on Sunday with over 35,000 fans in attendance and Tom Brady leading the fans in “We’re still here!”

We were hit with a blanket of heavy wet snow on that Sunday and were quite nervous about possible power outages and not being able to watch the game. Fortunatelythat did not occur. Friends sent us pictures of the storm’s aftermath along Shore Road that was blanketed with several inches of snow and both the ocean and sky were dark and bleak.

Members of the OPCT Preservation Committee presented the current plans for our new facility that I understand was well received. There is information regarding the presentation in last week’s Register. Stay tuned for additional information concerning the project in the months ahead.

Doreen Dun thoroughly enjoyed her trip to Oman with a group of 11 from the Boothbay region. The group was part of an intercultural exchange in Muscat. Doreen described the country as quite peaceful and beautiful and they were able to visit interesting sites, meet some of the area residents and spend a night in the desert at a camp! Doreen just returned from a getaway weekend in Boston visiting several museums and spending time with friends.

Gail Ross is busy once again preparing for her high school’s theatre production of “Grease,” to be performed in February. Gail has participated in this event for many years and enjoys contributing her time and many creative talents to the project. She’s also planning a visit with her brother Chris.

Happy Birthday to Ginny Rush; it’s a special one! In honor of her birthday she was presented with a proclamation from Mayor Marty Walsh declaring Jan. 28 as Ginny Rush Day in the city of Boston. Congratulations Ginny.

It was recently brought to my attention that Bob Moore played the piano at St.Columba’s Church during the Christmas holidays and his performance was filmed by BRCTV.

Good luck to the Patriots this Sunday, let’s hope for #6!! Go Pats!

Have a great week!
