News and Notes from the Community Center
Like the tide, our medical equipment supplies ebb and flow. At present, we are very low on wheel chairs and transfer chairs, especially. If you have any medical equipment that is no longer being used, please consider donating it to The Community Center. We try to supply everyone in need with the medical equipment they need. A big thank you in advance if you can help us.
The time is drawing closer ... A week from Friday, Sept. 1, we will be blind-drawing our next winner for a Bucket ‘A Lobsters. Feel free to come to The Community Center anytime Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or come to the Farmers Market at the Boothbay Common Thursday mornings to purchase raffle tickets. For 10 free lobsters, buy 1 ticket for $10, or buy 3 tickets for $20 to triple your chances. Let’s buy lots of tickets! Labor Day feasting will be coming before you know it! Fortunately, Atlantic Edge Lobster fishermen donate to us the lobsters. Proceeds from ticket sales help The Community Center serve all of our folks on the peninsula year-round. Here’s the good news; if you are the lucky winner and have left our beautiful region for winter elsewhere, we will ship your lobsters to you by Sept. 30.
Don’t forget: On Fridays during the summer, the Food Pantry delivers to us beautiful, very fresh lettuces and veggies by the box full. Please bring a bag and help yourself! To whet your ,appetite, check out our Facebook page weekly to see a photo of our latest delivery. (www.facebook.com/boothbaycommunitycenter.)
Transportation needs for the community are increasing! We would love extra help volunteering to drive folks who do not have the ability to get to medical appointments, the grocery store, or personal care appointments. If you have a reliable car, up-to-date insurance, and a few extra hours once in a while, we’d love to have you help The Community Center with this critical need. Please call The Community Center if you would like to help us. 633-9876. Thank you in advance.
