News and Notes from the Community Center

Have you been watching us on Facebook? If so, you have seen the wonderful sweaters the knitters are making as gifts for the students in our schools. The colors and designs are unique and beautiful. If you like to knit or want to freshen your skills, this is a great group to join. They meet each Monday at 10 a.m.

Also on Facebook you will see our wonderful selection of fresh vegetables given each week by the Food Pantry. Just today we are offering lettuce, chard, and turnips, all fresh from the garden.

This is the week when Richard Plunkett is bringing his Yellow Brick Road Show to the Center. The event is scheduled at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday. If you have not signed up come on in anyway as we have plenty of room. You can bring something to be identified and verbally appraised. There is a $5 charge per item, or three for $10. This is a fundraiser for the Community Center and a chance to learn about art and artifacts from the past and to meet other people who love to collect unusual things.

Have you bought your raffle tickets? The prize is 10 lobsters — just in time for that 4th of July party. Tickets are $10 each or you may purchase three for $20. All proceeds will go to the Community Center. If you are visiting from away and you win, we will ship them to you at no charge. Tickets are available at the Farmer's Market or from our volunteers, and of course, at the Center until July 1 when the drawing will take place.

At this time we continue to require masks and we also request that you practice social distancing. We appreciate your working with us as we attempt to keep a safe place for people to gather.
