News and Notes from the Community Center

As we announced last week, Richard Plunkett is bringing his Yellow Brick Road Show to the Center on Wednesday, June 22. Plunkett, who is known as the Wizard of Odds and Ends, has been in the antique business for more than 60 years and his shop is located in Alna. He has restored more than six historic properties and is a painter and published author. He is actively involved in preservation groups in New Jersey, Maine, and nationally with special emphasis on Victoriana.

The Road Show will begin at 2:15. Everyone is invited to bring in their antiques or collectibles to be identified and verbally appraised. There is a charge of $5 per item, or 3 for $10. The proceeds benefit the Community Center. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about art and artifacts from the past and to meet other people who love to collect unusual things. Please call the Center to let us know that you are coming. 633-9876.

Have you bought your raffle tickets? Don't miss this opportunity to win 10 lobsters by participating in this big fundraiser to benefit the Community Center. Tickets are $10 each or you may purchase three for $20. All proceeds will go to the Community Center. If you are visiting from away and you win, we will ship them to you at no charge. Tickets are available at the Farmer's Market or from our volunteers, and of course, at the Center until July 1 when the drawing will take place.

Beginning this Saturday, Lucy Cressey and her Genealogy Club will meet occasionally this summer. It is scheduled four times – once a month. Check the calendar.

At this time we continue to require masks and we also request that you practice social distancing. We appreciate your working with us as we attempt to keep a safe place for people to gather.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook. From time to time we post give-away items and announcements about special activities and events.
