News and Notes from The Community Center

If you are the caregiver for someone experiencing memory loss or dementia, you will want to watch the documentary “Alive Inside.” This stirring documentary follows social worker Dan Cohen as he fights against a broken healthcare system to demonstrate music's ability to combat memory loss. Many local eldercare facilities are now using his methods with remarkable results. There is a loaner copy of the DVD at the Community Center…come on in and sign it out. You will be glad you did.

Don’t forget that there is one more opportunity to win a feast of Lobsters — our third drawing on Aug. 30 — just in time for Labor Day Weekend. Tickets are available at The Center and from our Lobster Ladies and other volunteers whom you will see around town. We are so grateful to the lobstermen who have so generously donated part of their catch to our benefit.

If you have a favorite game you would like to play — Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Qwirkle, Backgammon, or any other — we can set up a game for you. Just call and we will try to make it work.

Be sure to call 633-9876 if you have questions about our programs or if you need to borrow durable medical equipment or if you need a ride to the center. We are here for you.
