News and Notes from The Community Center
On Wednesday, June 19, the Center’s van will depart for another architectural adventure with Richard Plunkett. This time, we will be off to the lovely town of Richmond to see the 18th century Russian and Slavic influence and to visit the bird sanctuary. Please let us know immediately if you would like to go on this trip. We shall leave at 10 a.m. and plan to return by 4 p.m.
On Friday, June 14, the Center will play host to a Tick Talk sponsored by the Boothbay Region Health Center. The speaker is Paula Jackson Jones, and the program begins at 2 p.m. It is important that all of us know exactly what to do to avoid serious illness brought about by tick bites. Open to all.
And this bears repeating: Several generous Boothbay region lobstermen are donating 10 lobsters to be given to the lucky winner of a drawing to be held at The Community Center on July 1 — just in time for the holiday weekend. Chances on the drawing are $5 each, or 3 for $10. Various Center volunteers have chances for sale or one may come to the center to purchase them. All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to help offset expenses at our Community Center. Our wonderful working watermen enjoy coming to play with us and have shown their support by making this Lobster Giveaway possible. Our thanks to all who help us keep the lights on!
Be sure to call 633-9876 if you have questions about our programs or if you need to borrow durable medical equipment or if you need a ride to the center. We are here for you.
