The art of Jim Sinclair is the next show at Gold/Smith Gallery in Boothbay Harbor through the month of July to Aug. 3. Courtesy of the venueJim St.Clair has painted the ever changing, rapidly gentrifying coast along the Hudson and East rivers in New York for decades.
He travels in all seasons and weather in the Kennebec, a motorboat his father gave him in 2012. He’s out on the water in fog, wind, rain and sun seeking what catches his eye and his heartstrings. These landscapes are bold expressions of a passionate artist bent on capturing something that is fast becoming ephemera. His colors are honest and bold and as true as the tides themselves. They’re a coastal portal that open a bare wall onto the surf and changing tides of now and before.
This new exhibit will be featured at Gold/Smith Gallery from July 1 through Aug. 3. There’s a public reception for Jim St. Clair at the gallery Saturday, July 11 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The gallery is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 8 McKown St., Boothbay Harbor, across from the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library and can be reached at 207-633-6252
