The Morse-Boothbay boys lacrosse team lost 18-16 to Bangor at home on McMann Field in Bath on Friday, May 25. Seniors for Morse and Boothbay were honored at the last home game of the regular season. Boothbay’s two seniors are Lucas Hardwick and Sam Page.

Morse-Boothbay finished the regular season with a 5-7 record and in 12th place in Class B. The state tournament begins with play-in games June 6 and the first round begins June 9. The team will face the fifth seed, Camden-Hills (10-2). Morse-Boothbay lost its only regular season match against Camden-Hills, 20-12, on May 27.

Hardwick scored seven goals and had four assists against Bangor to lead Morse-Boothbay. Page, a midfielder, kept up his average of eight to 10 faceoff wins during the game, said coach Jay Paulus. Boothbay’s Drew Meader also scored two goals.

Other goal scorers included Morse’s Cayden Green with four (and three assists) and Sam Pager with three.

“Overall, the team played well with solid ball movement and being competitive through four quarters,” said Paulus. “We continue to struggle defensively and our transition game suffered. Bangor exploited that weakness easily.”
