Tue, 03/10/2015 - 10:15am

It has been a long winter, but spring is coming! Central Lincoln County Adult Education is offering a great class to welcome the new season. “Migrant Songbirds: The Jewels of Spring” begins Thursday, March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta and runs for two weeks.

This class is for people who look forward to bright flashes through the trees and the chorus of bird song which greets us every spring. Come learn more about these amazing travelers, by exploring the mysteries and challenges of migration and diverse nesting habitat needs in their summer territories here in Maine. The course will also focus on methods of identification, including visual cues, behaviors and bird song, with a particular emphasis on warblers.

Instructor Jody Telfair-Richards, PhD, is a Maine master naturalist and a certified wildlife habitat steward. She is a Maine Audubon member and has birded internationally, as well as in various areas of the U.S., including right here in Maine on her 12 acres of certified wildlife habitat.

The cost of the course is $29 if you register by March 19 and $34 for all other registrations. So register today and kiss your winter blues good-bye, embrace the coming of spring, and save money all at the same time!
