I am pleased to report that we will once again be having our traditional Memorial Day Parade! We have confirmed that both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts will be marching with the us. Other organizations that would like to be part of honoring our fallen military, just let me know.
One of the most sacred honors our Legion has is the placing of the American Flag and rendering honors at each of our deceased veteran grave markers the weekend before Memorial Day. Each year we place over 800 flags. While the Legion organizes this event, many members of our community also participate, including our area scouts. Prior to the placement of the flags, Legion members visit the cemeteries in advance to be sure each veteran marker has a flag holder. This ensures that we can identify the graves readily when placing the flags. But, it is inevitable that we miss a few. And, there are some markers that don't identify military service. If anyone knows of missing flag holders, please let us know by calling the Legion at 633-4487 or Chris Armstead at 350-2485.
Thank you for your support! Hope to see you all at the Parade!
