Many acts of kindness

    Dear Editor:

Gullrun, our home of 28 years, was destroyed by fire and smoke on July 16. Our eyes still fill with tears when we think back to that day. We were fortunate to escape with our cat, Sushi.

Firefighters from Southport, Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay, Edgecomb, Newcastle and Wiscasset, along with Lincoln County’s Mutual Aid Strike Team, arrived to address the situation. We are profoundly grateful to the volunteer firefighters and the emergency responders that came from near and far to fight the fire. God bless them. Also, thank you to Chief (Bob) Hasch and Deputy Aaron Beck. They assisted in saving several paintings and gave us emotional support.

Special thanks to Cindy Watson, Gail and Jay Rowe, Marguerite Robichaud, Judy and Joe Metz, and Juliet and Dexter Morrison for their generosity and concern for our loss.

We will always remember Josh and Abby Seiders and their crew for hours of help during the fire. They pulled their crew from other jobs to help save items in our home.

We feel truly blessed by the many acts of kindness and realize how fortunate we are to live in the Boothbay region. Thanks to one and all.

    Peter and Carol Stratton
