“Fast away the old year passes . . .”

Today should have been the traditional day for the Auxiliary’s “LincolnHealth Employee Appreciation Luncheon”. The annual event featured a delicious buffet served at both the St. Andrews Village and the St. Andrews Campus/Urgent Care to thank all the health care workers for their dedication to the community.

As 2020 Covid-10 precautions would have it, the appreciation luncheon was transformed into hand-sewn holiday stockings filled with small gifts and treats for over 200 employees across the peninsula.

With their home base of St. Andrews Village on lock down, Auxiliary members worked remotely, by curbside drop-off at the American Legion Hall and in small assembly line groups to prepare the stocking project in recognition of the employees’ personal sacrifice and dedicated service this year.

Each stocking, complete with jingle bells, is an original design created by Auxiliary Sewing Group members Lorrie Richardson, Ann Hedgcock and Laura Zajdel. Donors for “Stockings for LincolnHealth Employees Appreciation – 2020 Version” are:

  • The Popcorn Store – Julie Roberts •Eventide – Kim Martin
  • Hannaford – Boothbay Harbor
  • St. Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop - Carole McCarthy
  • Auxiliary Sewing Group (Lorrie Richardson, Ann Hedgcock & Laura Zajdel)
  • Barbara Widmayer – Auxiliary
  • Maren Fischer – Auxiliary
  • Laura Honey & Cindy Sanborn – Social Committee Co-Chairs
  • Callers, Assembly Line Volunteers, all our Auxiliary Membership and the St. Andrews Auxiliary Board of Directors

The completion of the LincolnHealth Employees Appreciation project marks the third of four traditional events/projects that the Auxiliary managed to complete in reimagined form due to COVID-19 precautions. While an early spring luncheon was cancelled at the beginning of the outbreak, the Auxiliary held its annual Volunteer recognition in July, the All-Membership Annual Meeting in October plus today’s project to thank health care workers.

St. Andrews Auxiliary contributed over 8,000 hours of volunteer time to present $50,100 to LincolnHealth last month. Additionally, they funded $11,800 worth of medical related scholarships. If you are interested in learning more about the Auxiliary, please stop in for a membership form at the St. Andrews Thrift Shop or check Facebook (St. Andrews Auxiliary – Thrift Shop). Volunteers would be happy to talk to you.
