Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: No surprise ... more deer vs. car accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 375 calls for service from Dec. 4 through Dec. 11. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 15,728 calls for service.

Summonses

Dustin E. Thiboutot, 40, of Boothbay Harbor was issued a summons Dec. 9 for Harassment by Telephone or Electronic Communications Device, on Barter Road, Boothbay Harbor, by Deputy Andrew Miner.

Naomi L. Luce, 42, of Whitefield was issued a summons Dec. 9 for Operating Vehicle with Expired License (over 90 days), on Hollywood Blvd, Whitefield, by Detective Scott Hayden.

Arrest

Nicholas Sellick, 33, of Thomaston was arrested Dec. 4 on a Lincoln County District Court warrant for Failure to Appear, at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Transport Deputy James Read.

Accidents

On Dec. 3, an accident occurred on Upper East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Zachary T. Brewer, 25, of Edgecomb. Mr. Brewer was operating his 2007 Kia Rio southbound and rounding a curve. Due to the roadway becoming icy, Mr. Brewer failed to negotiate the curve and struck a utility pole. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 4, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving Ryan J. Poland, 32, of Damariscotta. Mr. Poland was operating his 2013 Ford Fusion northbound when a deer ran out and struck the front of his vehicle.  Deputy Ryan Chubbuck was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 5, an accident occurred on Main Street in Newcastle involving Randall C. Peterson and Richard Bates, 64, of St. George. Mr. Bates (a pedestrian) ran across the roadway and ran into the front driver’s side of Peterson’s 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 5, an accident occurred on US Route 1 in Nobleboro involving Derek S. Booker, 27, of Waldoboro. Mr. Booker was operating his 2015 GMC Sierra northbound when a deer ran out and struck the front of his vehicle. Deputy Ryan Chubbuck was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 5, an accident occurred on State Route 129 in South Bristol involving Valerie A. Pelletier, 56, of Jefferson. Ms. Pelletier was operating her 2005 Pontiac Vibe northbound when a deer ran out and struck the front of her vehicle. Deputy Ryan Chubbuck was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 5, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Whitefield involving Laurie L. Chapman, 50, of Washington. Ms. Chapman was operating her 2017 Honda Civic eastbound when she encountered a dog in the roadway. Ms. Chapman was unable to avoid the dog and struck it. Sgt. Matthew Day was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 5, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Sullivan C. Fink, 17, of Damariscotta. Mr. Fink was operating his 2008 Dodge Caliber westbound on Upper East Pond Road heading toward the intersection of East Pond Road when he came to the stop sign and was unable to stop in time. As a result, his vehicle went through the stop sign without stopping and turned onto East Pond Road where he went off the roadway and hit a tree. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 6, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Jefferson involving Rebecca Fournier, 40, of Washington. Ms. Fournier was operating her 2014 Dodge Dart northbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Sgt. Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 6, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Danielle M. Weeks, 32, of Jefferson. Ms. Weeks was operating her 2010 Audi Q5 southbound on Route 32, near the intersection of Bluebird Hill Road, when a deer entered the roadway, causing her to strike it. Sgt. Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 7, an accident occurred on East Pond Road in Nobleboro involving Gavin B. Dumond, 18, of Jefferson. Mr. Dumond was operating his 2002 Volkswagen Golf southbound when he hit a patch of ice, went off the road on the left side, crossed the centerline and ended up on the left side of the road in a ditch. Deputy Alonzo Connor was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 7, an accident occurred on Middle Road in Dresden involving Andrew P. Spicer, 32, of Dresden. Mr. Spicer was operating his 2015 Dodge 5500 southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side and was struck.  Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 7, an accident occurred on Cedar Grove Road in Dresden involving Andrea E. Biden, 40, of Dresden. Ms. Biden was operating her 2005 Toyota Tundra southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the right side and was struck. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Dec. 8, an accident occurred on Industrial Park Road in Boothbay involving Harry L. Pinkham, 90, of Boothbay Harbor. Mr. Pinkham was backing his 2004 Chevrolet up into the American Legion and when he began to make a right hand turn onto Industrial Park Drive, he continued going right into the bushes and rocks before ending up on the right side of the road. Deputy Alonzo Connor was the investigating officer.
