Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office: 13 accidents

Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to 314 calls for service between July 30 and Aug. 6. Year to date, LCSO has responded to 9,213 calls for service.

Summons

Eric Dionne, 46, of Woolwich was issued a summons July 31 for Trafficking in Prison Contraband, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Det. Sgt. Ronald Rollins.

Arrests

MaryCatherine A. Wilson, 38, of Boothbay was arrested July 31 for Unlawful Possession of Schedule Drug (x2), at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wiscasset, by Det. Sgt. Ronald Rollins.

Loretta S. Perkins, 37, of Richmond was arrested Aug. 2 for Violating Conditions of Release, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Deputy Andrew Miner.

Chad R. Carroll, 24, of Boothbay was arrested Aug. 4 for Operating under the Influence, on Beath Road, Boothbay, by Reserve Deputy Dwight Fowles.

Erica P. Burnham, 23, of Damariscotta was arrested Aug. 4 for Operating under the Influence, on Creek Lane, Damariscotta, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.

Accidents

On July 30, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Daniel J. Payne, 40, of Brooklyn, New York.  Mr. Payne was operating his 2018 Toyota Camry southbound when a deer ran out of the woods and struck his vehicle. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On July 31, an accident occurred on Cross Point Road in Edgecomb involving Arthur L. Garey, 69, of Edgecomb and Shawn T. Reinhardt, 27, of Edgecomb. Mr. Garey was operating his 2015 Ford Fusion northbound and Mr. Reinhardt was standing on the shoulder of the northbound lane with a bicycle, when the passenger side of Garey’s vehicle impacted the bicycle, which then struck the legs of Reinhardt. Deputy David Bellows was the investigating officer.

On July 31, an accident occurred on Main Street in Newcastle involving Dawn P. Davis, 57, of Washington and Andrew J. Longe, 28, of Bristol. Ms. Davis was operating her 2013 Nissan Sentra southbound and Mr. Longe was operating his 2014 Ford F150 behind her vehicle. Davis attempted to turn left into the Lincoln Health Harbor View Cottages parking lot, when the front of Longe’s vehicle struck the rear passenger corner of Davis’ vehicle. Deputy David Bellows was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 1, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Claudia S. Shaw, 77, of Wiscasset and Delphia M. Clarkson, 16, of Edgecomb. Ms. Clarkson was operating her 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood southbound when Ms. Shaw pulled her 2008 Hyundai Elantra out of a private driveway, failing to yield, and struck Clarkson’s vehicle. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 1, an accident occurred on Route 130 in Bristol involving Shannon R. Burns, 55, of Round Pond and Richard D. Pyle, 70, of Nokomis, Florida. Mr. Pyle had pulled his 2017 Lexus off the roadway and stopped in a construction area, owned by Hanley Construction, and was using his cell phone. Mr. Burns was backing his 2019 Western Star truck out of a construction road to turn into this construction area, as to avoid backing onto Bristol Road, and he was not expecting Pyle’s vehicle to be stopped there and in Burns’ blind spot. As a result, Burns backed into Pyle’s vehicle. Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 2, an accident occurred on River Road in Edgecomb involving Ann M. Dunlevy, 77, of Oxford, Ohio and Sophia E. Schumacher, 20, of Newcastle. Ms. Schumacher was operating her 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound and Ms. Dunlevy was turning her 2004 Mazda right, off the McKay Road. As a result, Dunlevy struck Schumacher’s vehicle, causing Schumacher’s vehicle to go off the roadway on the right side and strike a rock wall. Deputy Jonathan Colby was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 3, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Samuel J. Burnham, 19, of Boothbay and Mark W. Sawyer, 67, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Mr. Burnham was operating his 2005 Honda CRV SP southbound behind Mr. Sawyer’s 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, when Sawyer stopped for traffic ahead at the intersection with the Hardwick Road. As a result, Burnham was unable to stop in time and struck Sawyer’s vehicle in the rear. Detective Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 3, an accident occurred on Lower Round Pond Road in Bristol involving Megan E. Peabody, 23, of Damariscotta. Ms. Peabody was operating her 2016 Lincoln MKZ westbound when she stated that she went off the road on the right side and struck the soft shoulder. When she over corrected, she spun the vehicle around and rolled it over onto the driver’s side. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 4, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Bremen involving James H. Boothby, 49, of Bremen. Mr. Boothby was operating his 2011 Jeep Liberty southbound when he encountered a deer crossing the road. Boothby was unable to avoid striking the deer, causing damage to the passenger side headlight and some small dents and scratches to the bumper. Deputy Caleb Poirier was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 4, an accident occurred on Michael J. Mellin, 65, of Wiscasset was operating his 2011 Dodge Charger erratically in the parking lot of Taste of Orient where he lost control of his vehicle and went into a ditch. Sgt. Jared Mitkus was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 4, an accident occurred on Beath Road in Boothbay involving Chad R. Carroll, 24, of Boothbay. Mr. Carroll was operating his 2004 Toyota Camry northbound when he stated he swerved right to avoid a deer and struck a rock on the shoulder of the road, causing his vehicle to overturn, causing damage to the front and roof of the vehicle. Reserve Deputy Dwight Fowles was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 5, an accident occurred on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay involving Donald Wylie, 74, of Boothbay and Kevin G. Whitney, 60, of Topsham. Mr. Whitney was hauling an oversized load of building supplies with his 1993 Kenworth truck and trailer and turning left from Adams Point Road onto Route 27. Whitney made his turn too wide and struck a utility pole, causing the load of building supplies to scrape the driver’s side of Wylie’s 2014 Chevrolet Cruz, which was traveling southbound on Route 27. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.

On Aug. 5, an accident occurred on Boothbay Road in Edgecomb involving Melanie A. Hutchison, 49, of Westport Island and Albert A. Randall, 48, of Glenburn. Mr. Randall was operating his 2004 Ford F-350 behind Ms. Hutchison’s 2013 Subaru Legacy when Hutchison stopped suddenly due to traffic in front of her stopping as well. Randall did not have enough room to stop suddenly and attempted to turn out of the way, hitting the back of Hutchison’s vehicle. Deputy Sean Pfahler was the investigating officer.
