Lillian Sherburne wins Shrimp Princess Pageant

That's right Boothbay, we have a new Shrimp Princess and her name is Lillian Sherburne. The 12-year-old daughter of Bill Sherburne of Boothbay. Lillian sang and danced to the classic Gene Kelly number “Singing In the Rain.” Bill Sherburne is the father of the new princess.

First runner-up is Hali Goodwin, daughter of Dusty and Amy Goodwin of East Boothbay. Second runner-up Ellie Hilscher is the daughter of Bob and Debbie Hilscher of Boothbay Harbor.

The three were in competition with Ciara Jane Pitcher, Helen Hamblett, Maddy Faulkingham, Eve Dolloff, Marisa Peters, Madeleine McLellan, Zada Smith, Ellie Yentsch and Kalista Andrews.

Families, friends and neighbors packed the Boothbay Region High School gymnasium for the 40th annual Miss Shrimp Princess Pageant to witness the crowning of this year's Miss Shrimp Princess. Talent presented included ballet, singing – Helen, Ellie on keyboard and Kalista on piano; jump roping and hula hooping.

Brenda Blackman, director of the pageant for 18 years, announced she was handing her title over to Heather Casey and her daughter, April Blackman.

As one of her last acts as director, Blackman presented a gift certificate of thanks to Joanne Jones for 39 years of assistance with the pageant.

Andrew Morley announced this was his last year in the role of Master of Ceremonies, adding that if anyone in the audience was interested in the position they had a year to think it over.
