Dear Editor:
To Boothbay Harbor voters: please vote. It’s important. There should be a rule that one can’t squawk about politics if one doesn’t vote, or else the squawker has to pay a fine or buy a round. Such a rule is would obviously be unconstitutional, but it sure would reduce the static. Things would be a whole lot quieter.

When voting, please vote to approve Articles 3, 4 and 5. The current zoning, passed by the town in 1987, has not helped to sustain maritime industries in Boothbay Harbor. Even the lobster dealers feel this way! Voting to approve Articles 3, 4 and 5 will facilitate development and revitalization on the East Side while continuing to protect maritime businesses, both fishing and other maritime uses.

The proposed Articles are also the logical extensions of the February 2018 Joint Economic Development Committee Economic Development Master Plan report that called for, among other things, a revitalization of the Harbor.
