Juniper and McKown Points Column: Burnt Island Field Day and Picnic

Mon, 07/04/2022 - 10:00am

There was a tight deadline this week (Friday afternoon, almost a week before you’ll read this in the newspaper).

Next up on the full plate of JPVIS activities for July is Burnt Island Field Day and Picnic this Saturday, July 9. You don’t need to be a youngster of potato sack racing age to participate. Everyone is welcome and no sign up is necessary unless you need to be ferried out. Contact Vanessa Lipschitz vlipschitz@one8.org or Christina Edwards christina.edwards.09@gmail.com if you need a ride, or more importantly, you can shuttle passengers on your boat from Moore’s Landing to the Burnt Island dock. Bring a picnic lunch.

If you do decide you want to play some games at Field Day you can warm up first at 8:45 Saturday morning in the Community House with Romee May’s yoga class. Mats and blocks are available. Payment by donation.

Do you play Mahjong? Trudy Harris and Jody Rosenbaum are looking for players for an organized weekly game at the Community House. Contact Trudy if you’re interested. They may offer lessons if there’s interest. tharris33@comcast.net

Lisa Derezin reported on the arrivals of the Barton family. Besides Lisa and her husband Mike and their children, Brad and Julie have been here for several weeks, Brad’s daughter Brigette and her husband Marc are on their way. Bill Barton and Lisa have arrived from Florida with Lisa’s two sons, and Sarah Barton from Oakland will be here for the summer. Other family members will be arriving over the summer.

That’s it for this week. Send your news to annedooley@mindspring.com
