2020 Boothbay Region High School graduate Jaden Welsh will receive the Lincoln Arts Festival’s Malama Robbins Collingsworth Scholarship Award. Jaden is the daughter of Mark Welsh and Patty Sterling-Welsh. She will be studying entrepreneurship/small business with a minor in business administration at Thomas College in the fall. Jaden will receive $1,000 toward her 2020-2021 spring semester.

This award is in memory of Malama Robbins Collingsworth, a renowned choral director and teacher who, with Captain Marion Dash, helped found the Lincoln Arts Festival in 1982. Malama Robbins Collingsworth was the first artistic director of Lincoln Arts Festival’s summer concert series and the conductor of Lincoln Festival Chorus. She was an accomplished pianist at an early age, studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and performed at the Vatican at the Pope’s invitation.

The Malama Robbins Collingsworth Award was established in 1984 to continue her vision for supporting young musicians. This award is available annually to a deserving senior who has made a significant contribution to the music program at Boothbay Region High School. Lincoln Arts Festival’s Board of Directors congratulates Jaden!
