Honored to lead and serve

    Dear Editor:

The 2020-2021 school year was challenging. We experienced many, “You can’t, not now, sorry but no’s.” It was frustrating. It was heartbreaking at times. It would have been understandable if we stopped and stomped, yelled and even cried, but our school community did not. We stood together. We comforted each other. We took care. The health and wellness of our children, families and community was a consistent motivator and the driving force in all decision-making.

As a school leader I cannot say enough about our school family and the Boothbay region. To say this is a special place falls short of expressing how unique and amazing our community is! There have been many heroes throughout this challenging time in our history. I am grateful to the medical/health professionals, law enforcement, municipal and school leaders, and community volunteers. I am thankful to the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor CSD faculty and staff for their commitment to the education and wellness of all of our children. I am most proud of our students for choosing to find the positive and make the best of a scary and unknown experience. Our children are heroes and I feel secure knowing they are our future leaders.

This year, our student leaders, the Class of 2021 demonstrated great strength, character and compassion. They inspired me throughout the year with their optimism and positivity. As a class they chose to focus on what they can do and not on what they could not. They set a great example for us all.

BRHS and the community responded to the call to recognize and celebrate this very special group of students. I want to thank the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce for helping to connect us with many local businesses. Thank you to all of the businesses, local groups/organizations and individuals that have rallied around the Class of 2021.

I know the Class of 2021 will move forward to shape our changing world for the better. They have so much to give and I cannot wait to see what they do.

Thank you Boothbay- Boothbay Harbor CSD faculty and staff. Thank you Boothbay region and Congratulations BRHS Class of 2021!

It is my honor to lead and serve our school.

    Tricia Campbell

    BRHS Principal
