Dear Editor:

After a great deal of discussion, the Boothbay Region Garden Club’s Home and Garden Tour has been canceled for 2020. This decision was not made easily, but with sadness, regret, and much consternation.

The well-being and safety of our volunteers, homeowners and guests takes precedence over personal feelings and loss of income. Our tour consists of 500 guests, over 100 volunteers and five of the most gracious homeowners. We are considering safety for all of them and our peninsula by following health recommendations and our conscience.

This is disappointing to say the least, but in our hearts we know it is the right thing to do. We hope to see you in 2021!
