Help needed: Food and water

Mon, 10/21/2019 - 2:15pm

    Dear Editor:

If you have been following world news during the last five weeks, you’re probably aware that Port-au-Prince, Haiti, has been racked by demonstrations and violence, creating a “lockdown” situation. This has led to extremely difficult circumstances for average citizens. Many people are unable to work to earn money for food and water. Schools have been closed for five weeks.

We (Barb and Chuck House of Boothbay) have been bringing a children’s choir (Hope Haitian Choir) to the U.S. during the summers for eight years now. The choir has done approximately 250 concerts up and down the east coast. Through constant texting to and from Haiti, we have learned that many of these children and their siblings have been struggling to get daily food and water. We have been sending money through Western Union to help them for the last three weeks, but our resources are diminishing. They are like family to us and we are attempting to alleviate their suffering.

If you would like to help them get through this time of crisis, it would be greatly appreciated. You can help by going to the bottom of our website’s homepage and clicking Donate Now --- www.hopehaitian.com or by sending a donation to Hope Haitian Ministries, P.O. Box 374, Boothbay, ME 04537.

Thank you for any help you can give

    Chuck and Barb House
