Harbor Theater is honoring all local firemen with a special showing of “Only the Brave,” on Thursday, Jan. 18, 7 p.m. The theater is offering free admission for all local firemen and their families.

Starring Josh Brolin, Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Connelly, “Only the Brave”  is based on the true story of Arizona’s Granite Mountain Hotshots, one unit of local firefighters that through hope, determination, sacrifice and the drive to protect families and communities, put out one of the worst wildfires in the country’s history in 2013.

January is the month that our volunteer firemen spend two weeks training (in the snow and cold) to learn the latest methods for handling any emergency. Come honor our own brave volunteers, and enjoy this timely film with them.  Regular ticket prices, $10 for adults, $8 for members and youth up to 18, for all other community members to help defray the cost of the film and theater. Come say thank you to your firemen, and enjoy free coffee and dessert with our local fire chiefs starting at 6:30 p.m.

The film screens again on Friday, Jan. 19, 2 p.m. For more information, visit http://boothbaycinema.org or call 633-0438.

“Only the Brave is a visually splendid, spellbinding, and surreal movie,” says Bilge Ebiri of The Village Voice. “But it’s also a tribute to all firefighters who watch over our lives, our homes, and everything we hold dear.
