letter to the editor

Harbor Theater is a community jewel

Fri, 11/23/2018 - 8:00am
Dear Editor:

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the second film in the Classic Film Series at the Harbor Theater, with an introduction by Helen Meserve and Barclay Shepard. The next day was a showing of “Free Solo,” about rock climbing, with an introduction by a local climber. Both were well-planned, with two screenings, and refreshments at intermission.

The two films were well attended, but the seating for the documentary was a full house! I applaud the Meserves and Bob Devine for their creativity, perseverance, and marketing skills applied to this non-profit theater. How fortunate we are to have, right here in the Harbor, such a welcoming space all year to enjoy films and see our neighbors.

The Harbor Theater is a community effort, with volunteers taking tickets, supplying refreshments, and attending the showings of fine films. It is one more jewel in the crown of local achievements. Thank you for your vision!
