Dear Editor:

Our high school cheerleaders and their coach Elizabeth Tilton ought to be extremely proud of and applauded for their amazing performance at the regional championships at the Augusta Civic Center yesterday (Jan. 26).  The competing teams easily had three times the number of cheerleaders on their squads. Still, the small, but mighty team of five Boothbay cheerleaders showed up with smiles, energy, dignity, grace, strength, and amazing athletic and acrobatic abilities. 

If I had been a judge, I would have awarded them for being the pluckiest and most dedicated team. Many thanks to the high school cheerleaders and both teams’ coaches, Lisa Tilton and Elizabeth Tilton, for surprising the three elementary cheerleaders with their own competition shirts and personalized hair bows too.  They really got a kick out of and appreciated your inclusiveness. 

You ladies were a true inspiration and a joy to watch!  Bravo!  Keep on keeping on!
