Grateful to be well represented

    Dear Editor:

Since 2018, I’ve been well represented in the Maine legislature by my Maine House Representative, Holly Stover. If you live in the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, Southport, South Bristol, or Westport Island, you are well represented too! And we will have a chance to keep a good thing going by re-electing her this Nov. 8.

Holly has spent her entire life working for the benefit of our communities. Long before she ran for the legislature, she was hard at work with Lincoln County Dental, providing low cost and free dental care to Lincoln County residents in need. She was in the trenches working on the opioid epidemic locally as the Addiction Outreach Program Director with the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council. And she spent 23 years working for the Maine Dept. of Health and Human Services on numerous programs to help Maine deal with the thorny issues of homelessness, sexual assault and human trafficking, addiction, and many others. Holly’s life has been a life of service to her community.

During her first four years in the Maine legislature, Holly has applied her spirit of service and work ethic to enacting legislation that makes life better for all of us. She has sponsored and co-sponsored over 25 bills that have passed, ranging from bills to eliminate plastics in the ocean that harm our marine industries, to bills to help survivors of sexual assault, to bills to increase the availability and quality of healthcare services, to bills to address the scourge of addiction. She has received numerous awards for her legislative success from organizations across Maine, and was recently appointed Chair of the Government Oversight and Accountability Committee.

Through her lifetime of hard work and service, Holly has proven her dedication to this area and this state, and we’ve recognized her for that by re-electing her to the Maine legislature twice. Let’s keep a good thing going and send her back to Augusta again in 2022!
