An old Boothbay Common structure has a new look. Clear Stream Construction of Boothbay finished the gazebo’s renovation project, which began in May and ended earlier this month. The Boothbay Landscape Committee oversaw the project. The committee worked with an anonymous donor to renovate the aging structure. The project included a 10-point plan for refurbishing.

The project included re-shingling the roof and resetting the steps for improved stability. A stone veneer was added. The project also replaced all white rotting gazebo trim with composite structures. Handrails were added for improved safety. All electrical outlets were outfitted with GFI (Ground Fault Circuit Interupter). A WiFi outlet was added to provide a free hot spot.

The gazebo was rebuilt with composite materials and inside lighting with LED (light emitting diodes) was added. The surrounding grounds include low maintenance planting and mulch.

Boothbay Landscaping Committee Chairman Susan Whitehouse was impressed with the completed project. “I’m thrilled, and think everyone in our group is, too,” she said. “It’s exactly what we asked for and I think it will work well for the town,” she said.

This is the third project the committee has overseen since its inception in 2018. It was first charged with beautifying the roundabout and Boothbay Common. In 2019, the committee oversaw the Boothbay Common’s resodding and installing of an irrigation system with help from an anonymous donor. In May, again with help from an anonymous donor, the committee oversaw the gazebo renovation.
