Kelo and Gayle Pinkham lost their family home on Barters Island, Boothbay on Nov. 27. The fire caused extensive fire, smoke, water damage and the home is a total loss.

An account has been established for Kelo and Gayle at the First Federal Savings at 41 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. The money in this account will go towards helping them re-establish a home on their Barters Island property. The process of rebuilding their lives is a complicated one. Their insurance coverage is very limited and will not cover the cost of replacing their home. They have a current rental and are likely to transition to another later this month.

Kelo and Gayle are overwhelmed and so grateful for all the people in the community have given to them in the past week in the past week. Jen Field, a family member, is collecting gift cards for them at the Community Center. Gayle describes being in the grocery store and one person gave her a Hannaford card while another person paid for her grocery order.

Checks can be made payable to First Federal Savings and the memo line should read the Kelo and Gayle Pinkham Fund. Cash donations can be made to the account also. If you have any questions about the banking process, please call First Federal Savings at 633-2660.

On behalf of Kelo and Gayle, thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.
