Flashback Friday: August 2004

Fri, 08/16/2019 - 10:30am

Fifteen years ago in August, the Summer Olympics were being held in Athens, Greece, Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” and other paintings were stolen from the Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway, and George W. Bush and John Kerry were going head-to-head campaigning for the presidency.

Locally, the Boat Builders Festival was held in East Boothbay, St. Andrews Hospital celebrated its expansion, and public access Channel 7 held its first-ever live, 24-hour fundraising telethon.

Thanks to our digital archives, we are able to look back on past events and get them online – something we didn’t have back in 2004. And most of these photos were printed in black and white in the newspaper so you are seeing those here in living color.

    Hope you enjoy the show!
