Thu, 06/06/2013 - 5:30pm

Boothbay firefighters Lieutenant Alex Arsenault, above left, and Captain Matt Wade, show off the department's new hose nozzles with G-Top flip tops.

Arsenault's, in the down position, provides a steady, powerful stream of water while Wade's, in the upright position, is ready to produce a fog/mist to deflect smoke and heat in a structure. T

he department also purchased a six-inch butterfly valve. The Boothbay Fire Department has a task force of three Class A pumpers and thanks to the grant all three are outfitted with this valve which allows water drafting without disconnecting from the pumper. Fire Chief Dick Spofford said the Community Foundation of Sarasota County from the Clarence Hoeper Fund, Sarasota, Fla., awarded the department a $3,000 grant in general support of the department.
