Tue, 09/17/2019 - 11:30am

Bubbling Spring T’ai Chi classes, gentle movement for health, relaxation, balance and increased energy will begin at Bubbling Spring Studio in Bristol on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9:30 a.m. Instructor Jody Telfair-Richards has also taught t’ai chi for 13 years at Spectrum Generations. Her approach to t’ai chi emphasizes its benefit as a healthy exercise and a movement meditation giving one practice in staying calm and focused in our daily lives.

Jody’s ten week, one hour per week beginning t’ai chi series will use movements and principles from the ancient Chinese practices of t’ai chi and chi kung to improve balance and flexibility, and teach participants to relax while moving.

Chi kung exercises are simple movements to improve circulation and energy. T’ai chi is a sequence of slow movements, which will strengthen both legs and lungs. The gentle, yet challenging, movements can ease tension, clear the mind and increase energy throughout the body. Research has documented that the study and practice of t’ai chi can help prevent falls, as well as lower blood pressure and heart rate. As a non-impact exercise, it is well suited for people of all ages individuals and it’s fun!

Participation by advanced registration. Minimum class size 10. To reserve your space in the fall 2019 t’ai chi program email Jody at niniita@tidewater.net or call 207-650-0359.
