The Maine School Garden Network announced in May, Edgecomb Eddy School was honored as the 2027 School Garden of the Year at the calendar preview party. In addition to being one of the school gardens in the calendar, Edgecomb receives the calendar cover image.

 

The School Garden of the Month calendar is available for purchase at MSGN.org. The winning calendar photographs were revealed at the Calendar Preview Party held on Maine School Garden Day, May 9, at Thomaston Grammar School. Sponsored by Maine Agriculture in the Classroom and Maine Ag License Plate, the party included gifts for the winning schools, piano music by Beverly Pachero Music plus a special dessert.

 

The following businesses and organizations supplied the prizes: Avena Botanicals, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Fedco Seeds, Maine Garden Products, Maine School Garden Network, Outdoor Learning School & Store, Plants Unlimited and UMaine Cooperative Extension.

 

The following school gardens were picked for the calendar: Brixham Montessori, York; Edgecomb Eddy; Falmouth Elementary; Great Salt Bay Elementary, Damariscotta; Holden Elementary; Monroe Elementary; Oxford Elementary; Seedlings to Sunflowers, Gorham; South Bristol Elementary; Stratton School; Thomaston Grammar School; and Troy Howard Middle School, Belfast.
