In mid-air, Red Eddie Xavi Hall takes her shot. LISA KRISTOFF/Boothbay RegisterFormer Boothbay Region Elementary School basketball player Xavi Hall, a freshman starting guard for the Edward Little High School Red Eddies, played in the semifinal game of the Class A North tournament Feb. 18.
Despite her being the second-leading scorer for the team in the game with 11 points, behind Elizabeth Galway with 13, the fourth-seeded Red Eddies (15-4) fell to top-seeded Mt. Ararat (18-1), 69-48. Mt. Ararat had defeated EL twice during the regular season, 64-44, in Topsham and 49-21 at EL.
EL had defeated Bangor, 45-36, in the quarterfinal game to advance in the tournament. Hall scored four points in that game.
Among those cheering Hall on, in addition to family, were former BRES teammates and friends Eleanor Erwin, Arabella Hodgdon and Lilly Cowan. The trio wore a hand-painted design on their faces in EL colors. Several other Boothbay athletes and parents of players also attended the game to support Hall.
The Red Eddies ended the 2025-2026 season 15-5.
