Dunsford to speak at Windjammer Emporium Aug. 8

Wed, 08/07/2019 - 8:30am

Model builder Jon Dunsford will give a talk on the history of building large four-masted schooners at the Windjammer Emporium, 14 Wharf Street, Pier 1, Boothbay Harbor on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.

Dunsford is a lifetime lover of history especially concerning the maritime heritage of New England. He recently built a diorama of the schooner Bowdoin to help celebrate her new planking rebuild at Bristol Marine this winter. It is displayed at the Windjammer Emporium.

His presentation takes the hard work done by the late local historian Jim Hunt, published in the 1990s through the Nautical Research Journal and brings the story of local ship building at its best exactly 100 years ago.
