The Dirigo Cougars improved to 9-3 on the season with an 80-62 victory over the Boothbay Region Seahawks at Porter Memorial Gymnasium Friday night, Jan. 21.

The Cougars jumped out to a 20-7 first quarter lead and just kept on running. They held a 53-23 lead at halftime and were up 70-37 heading into the final quarter.

Boothbay, playing again without two starters, battled back in the final quarter but Dirigo’s lead was too much to overcome.

Gryffin Kristan led the Seahawks with 17 points (four three-pointers), followed by Giovanni Warren with nine and Connor Wenners with six.

Dirigo got balanced scoring, with Trenton Hutchinson with 19 points, followed by Nathaniel Wainwright with 18, Charlie Houghton with 15, Trent Holman with 12 and Dakota Tompkins with 11.

The Seahawks dropped to 4-6 with the loss.
