Courtney Brewer graduates from college

Courtney Brewer graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia with a bachelor of fine art in animation on May 30. She is a 2015 valedictorian graduate of Boothbay Region High School.

While at college, Courtney achieved a 4.0 GPA, was inducted into the National Resident Hall Honorary Top 1% of National Student leaders, received the Distinguished Scholar Award, and graduated summa cum laude. In addition, she maintained a resident assistant’s role on campus, while working part time at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Savannah. Courtney also maintained a very active community life on campus providing supportive and inspirational workshops for students, in residential life. She received the Resident Assistant of the Year Award from her peers and resident life directors for excellence in positive attitude, and contributions to residential life.

Some of her projects at SCAD included working with fellow SCAD team members on animated short films. One, a senior capstone project about an adorable feisty beach crab, and the other is a animated short that she created, directed, co-produced and animated including her own childhood memories, a lovable stuffy, and her nephew as the main character.

Courtney has enjoyed an internship at Walt Disney World, and has been recruited for an alumni internship position in August 2020. She is currently pursuing employment in 3D Character Animation. She was accepted and enrolled into an advanced academic program, Animation Mentor, beginning in June 2020.

Courtney is the daughter of Trish Brewer of Boothbay Harbor and the late Mark A Brewer. Her mother, sisters Katelyn and Meghan, are all very proud of her accomplishments and plans for the future. “She is a beautiful soul, who has embraced life. She will touch the lives of many by telling the story of life, love and hope in her animation of the characters she creates. The best is yet to come,” said her  mother.
