In 1991, Al and Becky Roberts organized the Boothbay Region Alumni-Community Band to honor the troops coming home from Operation Desert Storm. The director was Katherine Cook, former music teacher of Boothbay Region schools.

For thirty-five years the band has played at the Memorial Day parade to honor veterans of all wars. Other performances were Christmas and spring concerts, Veterans Day programs, baseball kickoffs and other community events.

This year the band will continue to play on Memorial Day, at the BRHS Grand March, Windjammer Days Parade, and Fourth of July celebrations.

Over the years the numbers have decreased from 50 members to under 20. New recruits are urgently needed! Please contact Becky Roberts at 350-7063 if you can join us for all four appearances or any one. Our rehearsals for the season will be held in the band room at Boothbay Region Elementary School at 6 p.m. on May 5, 12, 19 and June 2,9,16.
