Come to the Historical Society’s Open House Dec. 7

Mon, 11/11/2019 - 8:15am

The holidays are upon us! Mark your calendar for the Boothbay Region Historical Society's Harbor Lights Open House at the Oak Street museum on Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

There will be delicious homemade finger food, as well as holiday inspired beverages. Our raffle photograph by Robert Mitchell, “Turbulent Sea at Ocean Point,” is available until the 7th for your viewing pleasure. The lucky winner will be drawn at the open house. We will also auction off several creative gift baskets.

In addition, you will find lots of other gift ideas for sale, such as area maps and photographs, along with an array of historical books, some of which written by local historian Barbara Rumsey. As always, you are invited to tour both floors of the society's museum which contain myriad memorabilia of days gone by in the Boothbay region. Did you know that the town of Boothbay, formerly known as Townsend, was incorporated in 1764, nearly sixty years before Maine attained statehood?
