Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens welcomed families for its annual free event, The Great Pumpkin Hunt Oct. 26. CMBG was peppered with pumpkins and gourds of all colors, shapes and sizes, but the golden pumpkins got the most attention. Finders got gifts ranging from family memberships and guest passes to Gardens Aglow tickets and gift cards to the gift shop.
Scarecrows were also a draw as students, organizations, artists, businesses and Gardens staff dressed up the best scarecrows they could muster in different categories of competition. The results are at https://bit.ly/2PotFEt
Owen Kennedy provided merry fiddling while people enjoyed the festivities. Children could choose a pumpkin to decorate and take home and enjoyed games such as Straw Bale Scramble, Metamorphosis Relay, Pumpkin Ring Toss, Scarecrow Bingo and Apple in a Haystack. All children under 12 collected stamps from every game and got prizes at the very end.
CMBG accepted nonperishable donations for Boothbay Region Food Pantry at the door.
