Closing the doors

    Dear Editor:

    Dear Friends and Customers,

Kitty and I would first and foremost like to thank you for your loyalty and your patronage with “The Greenhouse.” It has been an absolute pleasure being able to serve you for 40 years.

On March 29, 1982, we started a new chapter of our lives as the fifth owners of Boothbay Region Greenhouses. We fondly remember Ken and Jeanette Orne moving out the front door while Kitty and I moved in the back door. We opened for business the very next day. We couldn’t have done it without our parents and my grandmother helping us pack, move and unpack, all with 10-month-old Cameron.

Oct. 29 will be our last day of business as we transition into retirement. We are saddened that nobody has purchased the business which has a legacy since 1929 when it originally opened as Latter’s Seaside Greenhouse. Other owners since were the Williams, the Websters and the Orne families.

Our mission to offer quality plants and flowers with friendly customer service would not have been possible without our talented and dedicated employees. We will be eternally grateful to all our staff who were with us on this wonderful journey.

We wish to thank you again for your business and express our gratitude to you. You all have been valued customers supporting us all these years.

If you have questions about this or anything else, I can be reached by phone or the email address, 1-207-633-2400; brgh2@gwi.net

    With our heart-felt thanks,

    Bob and Kitty Boyd

    Boothbay Harbor

P.S. Please try to redeem your gift certificates before Oct. 29.
