Chris Hamblett named NYA's Winter Male Athlete of the Year

Chris Hamblett of East Boothbay keeps racking up sports honors from North Yarmouth Academy.

Son of Meagan and Andy Hamblett, the NYA senior was recently named the school's Winter Male Athlete of the Year as a member of the Pathers' boys basketball team, where he has started since his freshman year.

Hamblett, who also competed on NYA's lacrosse and cross country teams, was named Fall Male Athlete of the Year in 2019 and 2020.

According to the school, Hamblett finished first in the Western Maine Conference in steals with 4 per game, was fourth in scoring (19.7 points per contest), placed eighth in assists (3.3) and also averaged 5.8 rebounds this season.

Hamblett wound up with 829 career points, averaging 12.5 points per game, and had 254 rebounds, 218 steals and 217 assists.

He was the team's captain, most valuable player and was named a Maine McDonald's Senior All-Star.

Hamblett has yet to decide on his college destination and whether or not he’ll compete in sports.
